Poem For The Prophet

A Song Inspired By The American Brothers’ Salawaat

This can be sung with the same melody as the one found in this video:

Allah Humma
Salli Ala Sayyidina Muhammad!
Wa ala aalihi wa sahbihi
Wa baarik wa sallam!

When I’d hear his name Muhammad
Unmoved, I’d say peace be upon him
Then I was shaken by their true voices
Singing with pure love, peace on Muhammad

Allah Humma
Salli Ala Sayyidina Muhammad!
Wa ala aalihi wa sahbihi
Wa baarik wa sallam!

When they would bug me about Muhammad
I’d scorn their counsel, follow his sunnah!
But when the riches of his great seerah
Filled me with wonder; it drew me nearer.

Allah Humma
Salli Ala Sayyidina Muhammad!
Wa ala aalihi wa sahbihi
Wa baarik wa sallam!

The more I delved deep into his story
The more I trembled, the more I hungered!
For just an instance, a brief encounter
In the presence of dear Muhammad!

Allah Humma
Salli Ala Sayyidina Muhammad!
Wa ala aalihi wa sahbihi
Wa baarik wa sallam!

But as my love grew for dear Muhammad
I was astonished, a comprehension
Allah released me now He called me
Through His door the light of Muhammad!

Allah Humma
Salli Ala Sayyidina Muhammad!
Wa ala aalihi wa sahbihi
Wa baarik wa sallam!

This song was inspired by the beautiful salawaat on the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, that I heard on the following YOUTUBE video, from the followers of Shaikh Mubarak Ali Shah Gilani, who are based in Islamburg, a Muslim village in the Catskill Mountains of Upstate New York.

May Allah send His immense blessings and protection on these brothers for singing and expressing such love for our noble Prophet Muhammad, Allah bless him and grant him peace.
