What Do You Sing With A Drunken Dervish?

.

What do you sing with a drunken dervish?

Sing and cry with a drunken dervish?

What do you cheer with a drunken dervish?

Early in the morning!

.

Hayy! Hu! Up he rises!

Hayy! Hu! Up he rises!

Hayy! Hu! Up he rises!

Early in the morning!

.

Look at the eyes of a drunken dervish!

Feel the smile of a drunken dervish!

Drown in the light of a drunken dervish!

Dazzling eyes in the morning!

.

Hayy! Hu! Up he rises!

Hayy! Hu! Up he rises!

Hayy! Hu! Up he rises!

Dazzling eyes in the morning!

.

Deeper than the sea is a drunken dervish!

Brighter than the sun is a drunken dervish!

Sweeter than wine is a drunken dervish!

Gleaming eyes in the morning!

.

Hayy! Hu! Up he rises!

Hayy! Hu! Up he rises!

Hayy! Hu! Up he rises!

Gleaming eyes in the morning!

.

What do you feel with a drunken dervish?

What do you see with a drunken dervish?

What do you find with a drunken dervish?

Ecstasy in the morning!

.

Hayy! Hu! Up he rises!

Hayy! Hu! Up he rises!

Hayy! Hu! Up he rises!

Ecstasy in the morning!

.

What is the trick of a drunken dervish?

High as a kite is a drunken dervish!

Inward pure bliss outward stillness!

Sober eyes in the morning!

.

Hayy! Hu! Up he rises!

Hayy! Hu! Up he rises!

Hayy! Hu! Up he rises!

Sober eyes in the morning!

.

Deceiving to the eye is a drunken dervish!

Calm, serene is a drunken dervish!

When we’re asleep he’s smitten by a dear Friend

Loving eyes in the morning!

.

With a rock and a bow and a welcome hand!

And a pounding breath like a drummer band!

And a secret deep as the desert sands!

Profound eyes in the morning!!!

.

Hayy! Hu! Up he rise!

Hayy! Hu! Up he rises!

Hayy! Hu! Up he rises!

Far eyes in the morning!
